I received my first two contribution statements of the season this week - one thanked me for my donation, and the other showed me the result of my donation.
The first statement broke down the amount our family donated, reduced my donation by the amount of our event meals, and thanked me for participating in the event. It was a fine gesture from the back office and satisfied IRS obligations (for more information on the IRS obligations, see the link at the bottom of this article or contact me to discuss). The second statement did the same, but also informed me as to how many meals the organization provided to at-risk families, estimated how many of those meals were funded specifically from my donation, thanked me for helping those families, and offered insight into the organization's planned activities for the upcoming year.
I have already updated my calendar to reserve time for the second organization's 2023 events. How will your organization differentiate itself with this touchpoint? If you would like to maximize this opportunity, contact our office.
